Subway from Airport?

Seems easy enough from the site but has anyone done it? Worried to arrive and be confused

Subway from Airport?

It%26#39;s really easy. You get on the clearly-marked bus that stops right outside each terminal and get off at Airport station. If for some reason you can%26#39;t find the shuttle bus, you can always just ask someone.

Airport station is on the blue line, so just consult the T map to see where you need to get off and if you need to switch lines.

Subway from Airport?

It%26#39;s very easy. There are two main ways to take the T from the airport, it really depends on where you need to go.

If you are going someplace near the Red Line, like South Boston or Cambridge, or Beacon Hill, or Park St. area, you%26#39;d want to take the Silver Line to the Red Line. You pick up the Silver Line bus at the Ground Transportation area in front of each arrival terminal.

If you are going someplace near Government Center or near the Green or Orange Lines, like the Back Bay, or areas North or West of Boston, you%26#39;d want to take the free shuttle from your arrival terminal to the Airport Blue Line station.

If you let me know where you need to go, I can give you more explicit directions.

Oops, sorry, I always seem to forget about the Silver Line.

Wow thanks to both of you-

I%26#39;ll be going to the Copley Place area. Flight arrive in the morning between 8-9 does that affect anything?

Thanks for all the help just a tad overwhelmed

8-9 is rush hour, so the subway will be more crowded than it will be at say, 10am, but it%26#39;s nothing to worry about.

Do you take the subway in Toronto? The T is really one of the easier subway systems to navigate, due to the fact that it%26#39;s so small. If you look at a subway map, hopefully you%26#39;ll see that it%26#39;s not too daunting.

Hi,

OK, so to get to Copley Place, you%26#39;d want to do the following:

Outside of your arrival terminal, look for the Ground Transportation area, which is outside by the curb. You want to pick up the Massport shuttle bus (blue bus, says ';Massport'; on the side) which has a sign heading of ';Subway';, or ';Blue Line';. If you are unsure, just ask the driver.

The shuttle will take you to the Airport Blue Line T station. You will go to the ticket machine and purchase a ticket for the train, which will cost you $2.00. Follow the signs for the INBOUND platform, with trains heading towards Government Center/Bowdoin.

You take the Blue Line to the State St. station, where you will change to the Orange Line (free transfer). At State St., you want to follow signs for the Orange Line southbound, towards Forest Hills. Take the Orange Line to Back Bay Station. When you exit the train, walk towards the end of the platform, in the same direction the train was travelling, and you will see an exit to an underground passageway directly to Copley Place.

It%26#39;s very easy and fairly well marked, and you can always ask someone if you feel you need to.

Hope that helps! Have fun.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

I feel so much more confident about doing it. Just seemed better than paying a cab.

I do use the subway here in Toronto and have mastered the NYC subway system so I am not too worried just not sure about the whole airport business.

Much appreciated! So excited for my trip!

Thanks again

Hey BeantownMan, could you help me out too?

We%26#39;re a family of 4 w/ 2 teens on our first trip to Boston (anywhere in New England actually). I planned to take the T in from the airport, but saw some posts that advised against it. (Just on the general basis of never taking a subway w/luggage into an unknown city.) We take the Tube from Heathrow into London everytime we go to England and have never had a problem.

Is it pretty easy to get from Logan to Cambridge on a Saturday evening? Our flight lands @ 5:00. We%26#39;re staying at the Irving House on Irving St.

Also, I figured for a 4-day stay the 7-day subway pass for $15 was best. Would we be able to purchase those from the airport%26#39;s station on a Sat. evening?

I do ALL the vacation planning so if anything goes horribly wrong, I also get all the blame. (Of course, I also get all the kudos when our trips are blissfully perfect so it works out.)

Thank you!!!

Karen

If you%26#39;re used to subways, have suitcases you can carry up stairs if necessary, and can deal with jet lag when arriving in a new city after a long trip, then you can negotiate the Boston subways even the first time around. And, yes, Cambridge is reachable via the subway.

For Cambridge, take the Silver Line from your airport terminal to South Station, then change to the Red Line in the direction of Alewife.

Irving House is about a 10-minute walk from the Harvard Square stop on the Red Line. You can save a few steps by using the subway exit marked ';Church Street / Harvard University,'; going up to the right, and then walking across the Yard to Cambridge Street. Irving Street is another few blocks down.

The T ride from the airport is definitely doable, and will save you a $40 taxi fare, but with 4 people and luggage you may want to just spring for the cab, especially if you%26#39;re tired after a long flight.

In response to your other question, you should be able to purchase the 7-day pass from any ticket vending machine system-wide, including the ones at the airport terminals. (I%26#39;ve never bought that exact pass, so I can%26#39;t verify that.)
