Cape Cod / New England

Any suggestions of places to visit (and the weather) appreciated for a young couple with 3 days to spare mid week after visiting Boston, will have a car and want to visit Plimoth Plantation and cape cod, last night will need to be spent near Boston airport but can get there very late.

Was thinking of basing ourselved mid-Cape for 2 nights then visiting the Cape, and possibly Cambridge enroute to the airport on the last day?

Any tips / views / help would be much appreciated!!

Do you want to drive for the 3 days or relax?

If you stay near Orleans, you can go to the beach, visit natl seashore area and Ptown and I would suggest just not worrying about the rest. MV is great but I got a feeling you may have been on an Island before.

When are you planning to visit the East Coast?

You should visit Cambridge while in Boston. It%26#39;s an easy trip on the Red Line of the ';T'; (our underground). It would not be easy to loop back there to visit on the way to the airport and parking is very difficult.

Your idea to base yourselves mid-Cape if you are going for two nights is a good idea. Your budget and the timing of your visit might help us give you better advice.

It won%26#39;t be easy getting a hotel on the Cape in season for only 2 nights. Most places have at least a 3 night minimum. There are hotels available with less nights required, but there%26#39;s no point in recommending something that has a longer stay requirement if you%26#39;re only planning on staying 2 nights.

If you are planning to be on the Cape mid-week, you should not have trouble getting a room. Weekends would present a problem, but there are independently owned motels that won%26#39;t require a 3 night minimum during the week.

We should compile a list of hotels, motel and/or B%26amp;Bs that don%26#39;t require a 3 night minimum in season.

Last season the mid-Cape Bluefish B%26amp;B offered shorter stays. They are located in Harwich and would be a nice choice if you want to stay mid-Cape and in nice village.

Pick a general location ( I like Eastham/Wellfleet/Orleans area on the outer cape) and then take a look at the Chamber of Commerce site for that town. www.easthamchamber.com www.wellfleetchamber.com Pick the type of lodging you are looking for (motel, hotel, B+B inn etc), e-mail to see who has 2 nights during the time you will be there, check their reviews on TA to make sure they offer what you are looking for and then relax. Although most quality places have 3-night miniumums, there are often ';holes'; in their weekly schedules that can be filled by shorter stays so it is worth asking before you stress out!

Although 2 nights will not allow you to see all of the cape you should at least experience the National Seashore...beginning in Eastham and running up the coast to Provincetown.

Also: traffic up here is so much less off season, you can really stay anywhere you%26#39;d like and explore a lot of the Cape during a limited stay.

Try to stay in a Village with a charming downtown area such as Falmouth, Harwich, or Chatham with shops, galleries and restaurants close by. Harwich and Chatham would put you mid-Cape and are great little towns to base yourself. A trip to the National Seashore and to the lower-Cape/upper-Cape areas are easy to accomplish from these towns.
