driving from Atlantic city to Boston

Any suggestions would be great - when we did this last time we went through NYC and were stuck in a back up on a double decker bridge. Any way to avoid this (we might stop over at Foxwoods on the way to Boston). thank you.

I used to drive to Atlantic City from New Hampshire every weekend when I was young and foolish:) We used to get around NYC by going this way:

Take the Garden State Parkway north out of Atlantic City to the end. Head east on 87/287 through Nyack and over the Tappan Zee Bridge toward White Plains, NY. Jump on to 684 north and watch for 84 east toward Connecticut. Stay on 84 all the way to the other end. Get on the MA Pike east toward Boston.
