Hello Everyone,
A middle age couple wants to visit the Cambridge, Lexington, Concord and environs historic sights and stay in charming colonial inns with good food. We shall rent a car at Logan and also like to take walks. Do not mind one night stands. Staying in different old inns is part of the fun.We shall have 3 to 4 days. Any suggestions for sights and accommodations will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all.
Revolutionary Massachussets
Going to bump your post to see if anyone has some suggestions. I am not familiar with colonial inns in the area, more so hotel options. Concord and Lexington is a great area for you to visit for history galore as well as walking trails. So I%26#39;d plan one day on that. Cambridge is fun to visit not only to view Harvard and shop at the Coop, but also there are some fine museums there as well. Lastly, is you are interested in the American Revolution you should walk the Freedom Trail which includes many sites of note along the way.
Revolutionary Massachussets
Hi 3Granny,
You are coming to the right place for Revolutionary History. I suggest you stay right in the center of Concord at the l7l6 Colonial Inn. It played a part in the events of the l9th of April, l775. Best of all, it is within walking distance of many historical sites including the North Bridge where the Minute Men gathered and the first two British soldiers were shot. There is a National Park Visitor%26#39;s Building there with all sorts of information, relics etc. Near the Inn there is an several old cemeteries where revolutionary heroes are buried if you like that sort of walking around. (Concord also has an interesting literary and transadentalist history, with homes to tour) The downtown is a lovely quaint village with, lots of restaurants and shops. Walden Pond is a short drive away also. The Battle Road from Concord to Lexington is awesome. It has been completely renovated back to what it would have looked like in l775. There are colonial houses to visit and dirt roads to walk. There is another Visitor%26#39;s Center with a film to take in. Just a few miles further is Lexington Green where it all began. Lexington is a larger town with nice shops and restaurants as well.
Just Google the Colonial Inn, Concord Mass to check it out.
