3 Day Stay in the City

I am planning to be in Boston for a 3-day trip next week. I want to film parts of the Freedom Trail for my fifth grade class. I%26#39;m driving from upstate NY and I%26#39;m worried about parking %26amp; safety (I%26#39;ll be travelling alone). Any tips/ideas? Thanks!

I%26#39;ll defer to the women on this forum for any extended commentary on safety for women traveling alone, but I will state this basic fact: During daylight hours, which is when you will presumably be working on your project, you should have no concerns about walking the Freedom Trail. And in general, Boston, particularly in the well-traveled tourist areas, is a pretty safe city.

Do you know where you are staying? You might consider parking your car at an outlying MBTA station (probably Riverside or Woodlawn, in your case) and leaving it there. You won%26#39;t need it in town. There%26#39;s a lot of discussion of parking here, so do a little searching and browsing and you%26#39;ll find lots of suggestions, including the one I just offered.

Thanks for the tip! I appreciate it.

Even at night you really should have no problems safety-wise. But, if you have some obviously expensive camera you may want to be cautious with it at night.

Don%26#39;t plan on finding any street parking. Everything is metered or for residents only. Parking is expensive on weekdays - $25-$35. Hotels generally charge even more. On weekends it is much cheaper (in garages, not hotels).

If you tell us where you are staying, we can give you some tips for parking and getting around.

Lots of women in Boston are out and about by themselves. I%26#39;ve never had an issue, nor has anybody I know.

I suggest you look into a Boston by Foot tour ... sometimes it%26#39;s fun to hook up with others for a short time.

Since you have a car, you might want to consider heading out to Lexington and Concord.
