Head of Meadow beach

I will be staying in Truro in Aug with my 2 kids age 6 %26amp; 9 and watned to go to most of the beaches in Truro. I was going to get a weekly truro beach sticker but I am confused about parking at head of Meadow beach. This beach is on the National seashore could i use the same parking sticker or would i have to get a National seashore sticker or pay a daily parking fee?

There are two access points to Head of the Meadow Beach – one is a National Seashore parking lot and the other is a Town of Truro parking lot so either permit system will work. If you don’t have a sticker I think the daily parking fees are about $10 a day at either lot.

This is one of those beaches where you can have an open camp fire at night – get a permit from the Truro Fire Dept (it’s right off of Rt 6 and they%26#39;ll tell you all the rules) and bring your own fire wood. A pack of hot dogs and marshmallows make for a really memorable, inexpensive night.

thanks for the info!!!! The fire on the beach sounds like fun. I have another question for you, what do you know about driving on the beach? We have a Jeep and my husband would love to do this.

You certainly can drive on the beach out there – but you have to get a permit, it can only be at certain times of the day and there are lots of other regulations designed to protect this very delicate area. I’ve never done it so I don’t know all the details but I think you’ll find all the answers to your questions here:

thanks for your help. Now i have to wait till Aug to go

My pleasure and happy planning/day dreaming! If you need anymore help as your trip gets closer I’m here – there are also several other posters here on TA who are very familiar with the Outer Cape and will be able to give you good advice. It’s a really special area and I’m sure you and your family have a great time.
