Could You Please Check Our Easter Itinerary?

My boyfriend and I are taking road trip to Boston next weekend. We only have Easter Sunday and that Monday off from work, so it will be a quick trip. We%26#39;ve been to Boston a few times before, but that was mainly for the whole Red Sox scene. We%26#39;ve also done the Duck Tour, Quincey Market, and Prudential Center (window shopping).

Both of the other times we stayed, we stayed at the Westin (Copley Place). We got a great deal on Hot Wire %26amp; loved it, but we%26#39;re thinking of changing it up and trying Jury%26#39;s for 159. a night. What do you think?

I know most places are closed on Easter Sunday--but I%26#39;m sure we can find some things to do. This is our only hope at a get-away-- we%26#39;ll make it work!

The itinerary has some serious holes in it right now because I%26#39;m sure there%26#39;s something great to do that we haven%26#39;t even heard of yet. Here%26#39;s what I%26#39;ve managed to come up with so far:

Sunday:

Arrive as early as possible, try to check in or at least park.

Possibly find a mass somewhere??

12 Lunch--if anything is open

1 Boston Public Garden (weather report says rain though, so maybe we will just hang out at the hotel?)

4ish Early dinner at one of the restaurants close by to the hotel and open for dinner

730 Dirty Dancing or IMAX

Back to Jury%26#39;s, have drinks at the hotel bar

Monday:

Breakfast--no ideas yet

Freedom Trail

Open to any other suggestions!! Especially shopping.

Thanks in advance for sugesstions %26amp; not calling me crazy for trying to go to Boston on Easter. :-)

First, Jury%26#39;s is a fine hotel located near Copley Square. No problem there. Since it appears you don%26#39;t have any show tickets, you can check out Bostix for day of performance half-price tickets. There%26#39;s one right in Copley Square at the corner of Dartmouth and Boylston Streets. http://www.bostix.org/

You%26#39;re not near either Imax theater: there%26#39;s one at Aquarium and one at the Museum of Science, so a play would seem to make more sense. You could walk to the Theater District from your hotel.

Shopping will be closed on Sunday, but Monday will be back to normal. You already know about Copley Place and Prudential. I would add a window-shopping stroll along Newbury Street.

Legal Seafoods is open on most major holidays and there are a couple in your vicinity.

This should help get things started.....

For a Roman Catholic Mass ... you have many options: Paulist Center on Park Street, St Anthony%26#39;s on Arch Street, also the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. Check out the Arch Diocese of Boston%26#39;s website:

bostoncatholic.org/Parishes-And-People/Defau…

If I were you? I%26#39;d go right to the BOSTIX Ticket outlet @ Copley Square right at 10 AM sharp with cash for your tickets first, it%26#39;s going to be busy. You could then either hop on the ';T'; for Harvard Square %26amp; head to the 11 AM Mass at St. Paul%26#39;s Parish, as a thought OR you can drive there, whatever you prefer. You%26#39;ll luck out if you could do this because the Boston Boy Choir %26amp; the Men%26#39;s Schola will be performing at the 11:00 Mass. This church is located right at the end of Bow Street at 29 Mt. Auburn Street right within walking distance from the Harvard Square ';T'; stop. You could do that or like I said drive there as well, if you didn%26#39;t get the car situated yet back at the hotel. Look for Finale%26#39;s Desserts while you%26#39;re walking or driving thru Harvard Square, it%26#39;s awesome there:

www.finaledesserts.com

It%26#39;s located at 30 Dunster Street %26amp; the Church is right near it, so how convenient is that! You could stroll thru Harvard Square for a few hours to check it out. Here%26#39;s a good site to see what I mean, click on restaurants %26amp; arts %26amp; entertainment on it:

www.harvardsquare.com

You will be staying at a beautiful hotel, you%26#39;ll really like Jury%26#39;s a lot, enjoy it there! You could check out the East Coast Grill in Cambridge for a change of pace too:

www.eastcoastgrill.net

It%26#39;s located at 1271 Cambridge Street, I believe it%26#39;s between Harvard %26amp; Central Square, so it%26#39;s within walking distance from the Square any way, hopefully you have a nice, sunny day for this get away you%26#39;re planning %26amp; these places are open, so you better call some of them first!

Have a wonderful time %26amp; Happy Easter!

One ammendment to Bostix suggestion. I believe the booth opens at 11 a.m. on Sundays...

Thanks Mahj, I just saw 10 AM on the BOSTIX site, so thought it was that on Sundays too, thanks for the heads up! Also, if Alissavino goes to the East Coast Grille it%26#39;s NOT where I thought it was. It%26#39;s further away from Harvard Square than I thought....here%26#39;s good directions from their site just in case...I went to high school in Cambridge near Prospect Street, but this is a little further down than I thought it was from Central Square...IN any case, here%26#39;s good directions in case you guys do get to check it out. There%26#39;s a LOT of different options for you besides Cambridge, you also could stay right in downtown Boston for the afternoon %26amp; just stay near your Hotel area, it%26#39;s up to you...

From Harvard Square to the East Coast Grille:

Follow Mass Ave out of Harvard Sq. heading toward Porter Sq. With Harvard Yard on your right,

bear right at the light and immediately head toward an underpass. Straight in front of you will be

the fire station and the road will fork. Take the left fork for Cambridge St. Follow Cambridge St.

approximately 10 blocks or through 4 sets of lights until you enter Inman Sq. We are on the

left hand side , #1271 Cambridge St. directly across from Cambridge Nissan.

From the Subway:

Take the Red Line to the Central Square T-Stop. When you come out to the street, head

down Prospect St. Follow Prospect St. to the 5th light. Turn left at the 5th light onto

Cambridge St. We are a few doors up on the right hand side directly across from

Cambridge Nissan. It is about a 10-15 min. walk.

I don%26#39;t think restaurants will be closed on Easter Sunday, and I can assure you that the restaurants in Chinatown will definitely be open. Chinatown is not that far a walk from Jury%26#39;s and is literally right next to Dirty Dancing venue.

I can%26#39;t imagine any restaurants would be closed, and since it%26#39;s Easter, many will be doing an Easter brunch from like 11:00 to 2:00 or something like that. Eastern Standard in Kenmore Square is a big favorite and does brunch from 10:00 to 3:00 every Sunday.

Another great spot near you is Parish Cafe, which serves gourmet sandwiches designed by some of the top chefs throughout the Boston area. I think they open at noon on Sunday. It%26#39;s very close to your hotel. There%26#39;s also Laurel Grill very close that has Easter Brunch (the menu looks amazing). It would also probably be a good dinner option since dinner begins at 5:00.

Also, don%26#39;t worry about the rainy forecast just yet - they can%26#39;t reliably predict the weather a full week in advance, it%26#39;s likely that the forecast will change at least once or twice before then.

Many restaurants DO close on Easter. Ones that are open are more likely to be more upper scale places and many have special menues, including things like brunches.

www.opentable.com/promo.aspx?pid=228%26m=7

I found this for places open on Easter.

Breakfast on Monday...The Paramount Deli on Charles Street.

Most places are open for dinner on Easter, with a normal menu. However, most places aren%26#39;t serving dinner at 4pm, so you might either be limited to a bar menu or want to rethink your plans.
