Daytrip from Boston--Shopping/Coastline

Hi everyone! We are staying one night in Boston for Easter, and have completed our itinerary thanks to all the great people on these forums!

I have just one more question. We are thinking of driving somewhere from Boston to stay one night before heading back home. I realize it is April and not much is going on, but I%26#39;d really just like to see the ocean--I have a little bit of cabin fever! We don%26#39;t really want to be in a desolate place though, we%26#39;d love to shop a little.

I looked at Rockport, Cape Ann, Glouster, but I%26#39;m not sure if there%26#39;s much going on in April.

Any advice?

One of my favorite spots is Rockport. While there%26#39;s not a whole lot going on this time of year, some of the art shops will be open on weekends. However, you may find that you didn%26#39;t allot enough time to Boston itself. One day goes VERY fast.

Sorry--I spelled Glouscester wrong--all the cesters take a while to get used to :-)

I can%26#39;t find much of anything for hotels in these areas. BF wants to stop in Salem for some witch trial stuff. Maybe we should just stay in Boston again and take a day trip to Salem instead? I had my heart set on staying on the ocean, though.

Gloucester! Haha.

Hi,

how about you go to Salem, and then to Marblehead? It is a really nice town by the coast with a cute downtown and some great seafood restaurants. You can go for a stroll on the beach, go for lunch at one of the restaurants (I think The Landing is right by the water). Make sure you walk around the old town.

This way you get both Salem and a seaside town.

Enjoy!

I wsa going to suggest Salem. Little more year round stuff there and a quick trip to Marblehead from there ... or if you%26#39;ve got a bit more time, continue on to Gloucester for a %26#39;drive-by%26#39;.
