I will be staying in with friend%26#39;s in Wollaston and visiting Boston for the first time. I will be with a 6 year old child. We want to do things like MOS, Duck tour swan ride and just people watching.
Suggestions on getting to these sights, or should we really consider getting a hotel closer.
thank you
wollaston to boston sights
Wollaston is right on the MBTA Red Line, so it will be easy for you to get into town from your friend%26#39;s place. I wouldn%26#39;t look for a hotel. Your child might even find the subway ride sort of exciting. Try to time your comings and goings to avoid rush hour, though.
It%26#39;s a straight shot to Park Street, which usually makes a good starting point for tourist outings--in particular, it%26#39;s a pleasant walk from there through the Common to the Public Garden for the Swan Boats. And although I%26#39;ve said this on the forum more times than I can remember, it bears repeating here: You must not fail to go see the Make Way for Ducklings statues in the Public Garden, near the corner of Charles and Beacon Streets. They are sure to delight any 6-year-old and any reasonable person of any age.
The T should readily take care of all your transportation needs. See http://www.mbta.com.
Have fun.
wollaston to boston sightsDowntown hotels are nice and convenient, but Wollaston%26#39;s really not that far. If you have a free (and friendly) place to stay in Wollaston, I wouldn%26#39;t bother paying for a downtown hotel. Much of Wollaston itself is within walking distance (or a quick cab ride) of the Red Line stop and ...it%26#39;s maybe 20 minutes to downtown? The train ride can be entertaining for children. Make sure he/she gets a window seat for the stretch between North Quincy and JFK/UMass--nice view out the window as the train crosses the Neponset. It is less convenient than staying downtown but it%26#39;s not like your friend is way way out. It%26#39;s another 20-30 minutes or so each way by T.
thanks fo much...so am i to assume Wollaston is a safe neighborhood ( daytime)? We are staying near Charles Street.
