We are planning a day trip to Martha%26#39;s Vineyard in May and wanted some ideas of what to do and see while we are there.

Edgartown is the largest town on the the Vineyard, walking is the best way to experience all the wonderful shops, galleries and restaurants. Vineyard Haven is the 3rd major town where the famous (and touristy) Black Dog Tavern is located. www.blackdog.com I like to visit the Bunch of Grapes Bookstore when I am there, too. http://www.bunchofgrapes.com/

If you have a car or can hire a tour van/taxi (there are usually some available as you get off the ferry) you can go out to Gay Head to see the cliffs and visit the light houses - Gay Head and East Chop.
