We are coming to NE this October to tour VT, NH, ME and will be stopping one day in Boston. We will be coming down I-95 from Ogunquit, ME. Where is a good place to catch a walking tour or see the historic areas of Boston. I%26#39;ve been to Boston many years ago but my husband has never been. I%26#39;ve heard horrible things about the traffic in Boston so want to make it an easy trip if possible. We are used to traffic in Atlanta but like to avoid it when on vacation. We will need to head to Nashua, NH for the night before we fly out of Manchester the next afternoon. Thanks!
Walking Tours/Historic areas off I-95
Without knowing your specifics (schedule, etc.), it%26#39;s very difficult to make recommendations. What I can tell you is that the traffic is NOT horrible, as long as you don%26#39;t plan to drive in during rush hour (7-9 AM). I%26#39;m sure you can understand that from living in Atlanta. Beyond that, I can suggest that Boston CityWalks has a whole city walk that starts at 10 AM across from the Old State House. You can check out the information at bostoncitywalks.com
Walking Tours/Historic areas off I-95
I%26#39;m not sure what you mean by ';off I-95';. Do yo want to come into the city or not? If you are coming into the city via 95 then it%26#39;s 95 South to Rte 1 South, over hte Tobin Bridge, and you can park at the Government Center Garage (but it%26#39;s not cheap).
If you want to be outside of the city, near 95, then take 95 South to Rte 128 North to 114 East and visit Salem. Or 95 South to Rte 2 to Lexington and Concord.
The easiest way to Nashua from the Boston area is Rte 93 North ...
Yes we want to come into the city. If not a walking tour then maybe a duck tour or half day trolley tour.
I know alot of people love the duck tours, but if the weather is nice, Boston is a great city to walk and you will get a better is still brief feel for the city. So, play it by ear but in good weather opt for a walking tour.
Do you know if they do the duck tours rain or shine?
Duck Tours and Trolley Tour run rain or shine.
