The Copley Square Hotel

Something does not seem right regarding the reviews of The Copley Square Hotel.

I stayed here last year on New Years Eve before the renovations. The Copley Square Hotel is now rated #1 here on TA mostly by one time reviewers. I do not believe renovation would put this average hotel to the number one spot. Has anyone stayed here recently?

The Copley Square Hotel

Hahahah! Remay, I think you%26#39;ve nailed them. Boston%26#39;s new favorite hotel, who knew. The ';guests%26#39; sure did. Amusing that several knew about cost of the renovation -- and none of them could properly hyphenate ';newly-renovated';.

The Copley Square Hotel

Hi Remay:

Nice observation and as a DE you should bring this to TA%26#39;s attention.

I read the reviews and thougt I fell into an Amway commercial. 2 of the posters only had the one post and it seems the intention was to just promote the hotel.

Tupperl ad Happytraveler were the ones I read. My suspicions are there are more one time only posters giving reviews.

I never log onto the Review section because of this problem. I alway stick to the forums.

Nice pick up.

I%26#39;d go as far as to guess that all these reviews were written by the exact same person. The style is identical. And, really, how many guests can tell you the cost of the recent renovations? For that matter, if it%26#39;s a first time visit, what would you even know it was renovated?

Interestingly enough many of the reviewers signed up on the day they posted their review of the hotel!

I just think a huge, sudden flurry of 5 star ratings for this hotel? Renovated or not it%26#39;s fishy.

Also, if you read these reviews, they all sound like they were written for a marketing brochure.

I think I will bring that to the attention of TA as well.

Thanks for posting this thread. I am trying to find a hotel in this area and was originally thinking about the Westin Copley Square but it is hugely expensive and we%26#39;re trying to find a place that has a family suite - which seems to be a tough call in certain areas of Boston. After searching, I found the Copley Square Hotel does offer a family suite (and it%26#39;s available for the time we want in September), and it%26#39;s about $120 less per night than the Westin Copley.

I was so disappointed to find what appear to be bogus reviews on Copley Square from the one time posters. I hate when establishments do that. I believe sometimes management will ask their guests to join Trip Advisor to post a positive review - but I personally don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s right since it%26#39;s using TA as a vehicle for free advertising. I%26#39;m not sure if this was the case for those one time reviews though, because as others pointed out, they seem too scripted. Since then, however, there have been some good reviews by long time members, so I%26#39;m hoping they are legit. Has anyone stayed there recently and can advise me about this hotel?

Many thanks!

I also think it%26#39;s more a case of the hotel asking (or providing incentive?) it%26#39;s guest to review the hotel...

I could be wrong though. Purely speculation...

PmmcTO-

If you were quoted a good rate for the Copley Square Hotel, I would go for it. It is in a nice location and close to many tourist attractions. The OP was written because the hotel jumped to number one out of nowhere with some very suspicious reviews. The latest reviews look valid and Copley Square Hotel is no longer in the number one spot. Enjoy your stay in Boston.

Thanks so much Remay. Will do!
