The 7 day linkpass (which I%26#39;m intending to purchase) is valid for zone 1A travel on the commuter rail. What do I need to do if I want to cross zones? Is there some sort of ';add fare';? It wasn%26#39;t quite clear on the MBTA website.
I%26#39;m staying in Back Bay, but I have an appointment one day near West Newton station.
Thanks!
commuter rail interzone travel on linkpass?
I believe, though I%26#39;m not sure, that you get a discount on the regular Zone 2 fare if you show the LinkPass.
This is not a terribly common scenario, so you might not find anybody on the forum who has a definitive answer. You could call the MBTA, or, since it sounds like you intend both to buy the pass and to use the train, just check at South Station or Back Bay Station when you buy your train ticket. You definitely should plan to get your train ticket at the station to avoid a surcharge that you would probably incur if you bought it on the train.
