I am travelling to Boston this weekend to watch my boyfriend participate in the Boston Marathon. I will accompany him to the bus loading area on Monday morning and then was thinking I would go for a run since I will have hours to kill before the race even starts. Any suggestions on where to run to avoid any of the road closures for the marathon? I would like to do a run somewhere around 3 - 6 miles.
Thanks much
Carol
Running in Boston
Hi keyboarder,
I think the bus loading area is near the Common, so I%26#39;d suggest heading over to Storrow drive and running by the river. It%26#39;s the preferred running route for all of my crazy runner friends - beautiful scenery!
I found this pretty cool site: mapmyrun.com/find-run/united-states/ma/boston - I think I%26#39;d recommend the 4 mile river loop, but there are a bunch for you to choose from! Enjoy - crossing my fingers for good weather, and good luck to your boyfriend. It%26#39;s a great day to be in Boston!
Running in Boston
Hi Keyboarder,
I would second the Storrow Drive route - you can take that loop and cross over into Cambridge, as well. That%26#39;s the leisurely route I take when we%26#39;re visiting Boston for the marathon and I want a light jog (my partner runs the Boston Marathon every year). It%26#39;s a scenic route and there will be a lot of people out exercising.
Good luck to your boyfriend! We%26#39;ll be watching from Framingham (mile 6) and then again just outside of Fenway. I hope the rain stays away...
