Hi, Want to try to stop smoking. Is this anywhere near the airport? Any suggestions for an inexpensive hotel? Thanks!
Going to the ';Mad Russian'; in Brookline
He%26#39;s in Brighton, if I remember correctly. That%26#39;s a section of Boston, so it%26#39;s not so far from the airport. However, if you%26#39;re coming from Stamford, then I%26#39;m not sure I understand why the airport is involved. That%26#39;s really a pretty quick drive to Boston, particularly Brighton, which is on the western side of Boston. Should be about a two and a half hour drive each way. You%26#39;d spend longer going to the airport and having to go through security. I guess I%26#39;m also saving you a hotel room. Too bad we can%26#39;t share in the savings. Can%26#39;t we??
Going to the ';Mad Russian'; in Brookline
I was thinking of flying out of White Plains and staying over. Guess I should have mentioned that. Otherwise I%26#39;d be sitting in the car 5+ hours, then sitting there for 3 hours, and at a restaurant. Too much sitting for me. He%26#39;s on Beacon in Brookline tho, not Brighton
Good morning redrrobin,
YES he%26#39;s in Brookline and I believe he%26#39;s still at this same location? It%26#39;s 1680A Beacon St. Brookline, MA.
His name is Dr. Yefim Shubentsov and his # is 617 232-3930.
GOOD LUCK with it, you%26#39;ll do it, the key is you have to want to quit. I went to him twice, he%26#39;s amazing. The first time it worked for 3 months, but it was ME not his technique that time. Then I said well let me try it one more time, so I went again to him (after my father died from lung cancer, mind you) and this 2nd appointment did the trick. You have to really really pay attention to what he says to you in the group session because he%26#39;s got a very thick Russian accent that you really have to listen good to, to understand what he%26#39;s telling you through this session. It%26#39;s some type of bioenergetic therapy of some sort that he uses. Whatever it is? It works, trust me on this, there%26#39;s even stars and celebrities that fly in to Boston to go to him, he%26#39;s a gem to me, that%26#39;s for sure! That 2nd appointment for me was on May 19th in 1990 and I haven%26#39;t had ONE single cigarette since I walked out that door, so he%26#39;s doing something right! It%26#39;s up to you too though, you have to want to quit and that%26#39;s the key....
You%26#39;ll do it, let us know how you make out! Again, GOOD LUCK!!
Redrobin,
I can guarantee you that your travel time will be longer flying than driving, most of which will be sitting. My suggestion would be to drive up, stop at Rein%26#39;s Deli in Vernon, which should be about half way for you. Rein%26#39;s is at the ';Vernon Center'; exit of I-84, a few minutes north of Hartford. That way you%26#39;d only be sitting a little over an hour on each ';leg';. Could do the same on the return.
Assuming that%26#39;s NOT what you want to do, Brookline is next to Brighton just west of Boston. Sorry about the mix-up, but perhaps he USED TO be in Brighton. That was some years back. The Brookline Holiday Inn is very reasonable (by Boston standards, at least). You can get there via the ';T'; Green line. ';Subway'; Courtesy Bus in the aiport to the subway. Blue Line to Government Center. Then switch to the ';C'; branch of the Green Line to Coolidge Corner.
Hope this helps. And good luck with the Mad Russian!!
Redrrobin,
What about staying at a B%26amp;B right in Brookline instead of a Hotel may be? Look on this site right here at some of the B%26amp;B%26#39;s listed, there%26#39;s a couple of them right on Beacon St. in Brookline. They%26#39;re pretty reasonable to stay a night and they have some really good reviews on here about them, which is a good sign....
This worked, stopped smoking since 1999. You have to want to stop smoking and you need to have patience listening to his heavy accent. That said, I understood everything and it was the best thing I ever did. I was a non believer, don%26#39;t know or care how it worked but it did. Never even a craving. Worth the drive and what the heck its Boston.
There%26#39;s a Courtyard Marriott right in Coolidge Corner in Brookline that you might want to take a look at (it%26#39;s also very close to the T). My mom hasn%26#39;t smoked in 16 years thanks to the Russian.
Many folks might not know that Mr Shubentsov%26#39;s method for quitting smoking would kick in even an year or two after seeing him. That%26#39;s what happened to me. Just a day trip from NYC by bus %26amp; Boston%26#39;s local transit systems. If you have the luck to connect with him he%26#39;s a very nice and considerate gentleman. It would be unfair to expect that Mr Shubentsov%26#39;s methods would cure all ailments and addictions. I hope President Obama will consider inviting Mr S to the White House for a private session.
