Girl's Weekend Suggestions

I can%26#39;t answer all your questions, but I%26#39;ll answer what I can ... the cheapest way to get here is by bus: Bolt, Lucky Star, Megabus. Depending on when you book, you can get a one-way fare as low as $1. They have a certain number of seats at each price and as they sell, the prices go up. I booked on Bolt afew weeks ago and got 4 tickets from Boston to New York ranging in price from $15 to $18.50 ... from NY to Boston, all 4 tickets were $15 each.

For tourism and shopping and nightlife, the best places to stay are the areas around Back Bay, Fanieul Hall, Boston Common/Quincy Market.

I%26#39;ll let the younger folks chime in on clubs, etc.

Girl's Weekend Suggestions

Hi Angel,

FMP is right on - the bus is definitely the cheapest way to get here, and Boston%26#39;s small, so most neighborhoods are fine - the ones she mentioned are all great. I%26#39;d guess that you%26#39;ll be happiest in Back Bay, since it%26#39;s really central. There are tons of deals right now out there, so look around - there have been many mentioned on this board over the past few weeks!

For nightlife - it%26#39;s really subjective. If you can tell us a little bit more about the group it will help. Ages? Kind of nightlife you prefer - clubs, pubs, upscale lounges, live bands?

I%26#39;m not much of a clubber, but there are some cool places downtown - maybe someone else can pop in on this one!

For a younger, rowdier crowd - The Alley on Boylston Street in Back Bay is fun - The Liquor Store has a mechanical bull! The bars there tend to have huge lines once the night gets started, and people go out earlier here than in NYC because the bars all close by 2am. When my friends visit from NYC they%26#39;re always amazed how crowded places get so early! There are also some fun bars at the other end of Boylston Street - Dillon%26#39;s is one of my old favorites for a slightly less rowdy experience.

The bars in Faneuil Hall tend to sway a little younger as well, but there are all ages really. For fun dancing to cover bands try Parris/Ned Devine%26#39;s. The Bell in Hand is always fun - more of a pub.

There%26#39;s tons of places, really, and something for everyone. If you let us know more about your preferences, we can get you more advice!

I spend most of my early twenties (seems like a long time ago, but it wasn%26#39;t!) in two specific areas:

1. Boylston Street - you can spend a night bar-hopping along this street, which is very popular with recent grads. Favorites were Whiskey%26#39;s, Pour House, Cactus Club and Dillon%26#39;s, but there are a bunch of others too and just depends on your scene. Rattlesnake has a super popular roof deck.

2. Faneuil Hall - again, tons of bars/clubs to choose from, you couldn%26#39;t possibly hit them all in one night. Favorites were Clark%26#39;s, Dockside, Hong Kong and Sanctuary.

In Boston, you%26#39;ll find a ton of %26#39;bars that have dancing%26#39; and not nearly as many clubs. If you want something slightly more clubby, I highly recommend Gypsy Bar (theatre district) and Felt (Downtown Crossing). They both have a really good mix of bar and club scenes.

There are no afterhours in Boston. The only bars I know that do it are dives, in sketchy neighborhoods, that wouldn%26#39;t let you in unless they knew you.

There is an alcohol-free after hours in Park Square (not far from Boylston Street). I believe it is called Rise.

For a girls weekend I would suggest staying in Copley Square and partying on Boylston Street or dining and rinking in the South End. Newbury Street is one bock over from Boylsotn and you can spend your day shopping from one end of the street (affordable) to the other (not affordable designer shopping - Valentino, Chanel, etc. Hotles are The Lenox, Jury%26#39;s, Mariott Copley Place, Residence Inn, etc.

For a slightly younger crowd and more options for nightlife, the North Station/Haymarket/Faneuil Hall area has dining, dancing and drinking. The North End (Italian section)is next door for dining options.

I thought Rise was members (and their guests) only?

Hi angellibra81!

Definitely check out the bolt bus for cheap transportation.

For fun, I guess it depends on what type of bars/clubs etc. you%26#39;re interested in.

If you are looking for a little bit of a more upscale lounge/dj scene I%26#39;d definitely suggest District.

A great night with the gals might include dinner at Ivy%26#39;s - a great spot with small plates and a wine list where every bottle of wine is $26 (you just can%26#39;t beat that for girl%26#39;s night out). http://www.ivyrestaurantgroup.com/index.html

Then head over to District, a quick walk. And if you are still looking for more, you%26#39;re a street or two from Chinatown where you%26#39;ll find the only after hours spots in Boston. I%26#39;m sure someone here can tell you their favorite spots there:)

Enjoy!

I am not certain. I must have been there before its current policy. It was probably 5-6 years ago.

I would hope people would *not* publicly list places in Chinatown where one might be able to keep the pary going....no sense potentially ruining it for others.

Thank you so much for great information. What are the types of music played in these places? Ex: hip-hop, reggae, house, etc...

Sorry, I cannot help with your music question but If you take SeaportConcierge%26#39;s advice about District then clink on the link and you can purchase a $50.00 certificate for $25.00.

After your night of partying (Boston shuts down early) You go for late-late night or early-early breakfast at a greasy spoon diner at South Street Diner.

Have fun!
