Anywhere else to stay besides Plymouth

I posted a topic of where to stay in Plymouth but I wanted to add that we will be in Lake George NY before we come to MA. We love Plymouth, Salem %26amp; Rockport too BUT does anyone recommend something to do in the MA area on our way to Plymouth as we have to come across the state of MA to get to the beach. I love history, the kids love nature and my husband loves sports....any ideas would be appreciated!!!

Old Sturbridge Village will meet the history and nature interests. www.osv.org

For sports, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield might be of interest: www.hoophall.com

You could stop in the Berkshire mountains. There are many little nice tourist towns and activities there..

Is there a reason you didn%26#39;t mention Boston?

Ahhh..your husband loves sports...you may want to stop at The Basketball Hall Of Fame in Springield, MA (just of the pike)

Wheres my head.. Six Flags New England is right there also. You could even spend a night in that area and do both.

Ok, I am sorry about this.. but if you like Yankee Candle, you can%26#39;t miss their headquarters....you can go to their headquarters in Greenfield MA. This is not a normal candle shop. It is a gigantic themed place with live music shows, an indoor german village, Santa%26#39;s workshop and a lot more. Go to their website for more info.

While there you can also visit Northampton, MA which is a great little walking city with nice shops and things close by, as well as drive or walk 25 minutes to the top of Mount Sugarloaf reservation for a beautiful view of Pioneer Valley.

All of this is not to far strayed from the Mass Pike.

If you are coming along on Rt.90 east - the Berskshires are a wonderful place to stop. Some places to visit: Norman Rockwell Museum www.nrm.org and the Hancock Shaker Village - which you and yoru kids would probably love

Also - a stop in Springfield for hubby at the Basketball Hall of Fame: www.hoophall.org and the Springfield Quadrangle which is a cluster of museums - hitory, natural history, art

www.springfieldmuseums.org and some fun Dr. Seuss statues . Lots to see %26amp; do on your way to Plymouth!

looks like everyone is on the same page here ;o)

If you do go to Yankee Candle - make sure you visit Historic Deerfield and the houses there:

(ok, I%26#39;ll shut up now)

Darn.. missed that one.. Historic Deerfield is very nice also. You can take tours of the historic houses and there is even a really nice Inn there.

NOHO, Yankee Candle, Sugarloaf are all a stones throw from eachother. BB Hall of Fame, and Six Flags are about 20-25 minutes south.
