Looking for a winery within a cab drive of downtown? Any suggestions?
Wineries in the Boston area?I can%26#39;t think of any that close by .... the ones I can think of are not a quick cab drive from down town. One is about 25 miles north of Boston in Danvers

The other is in Cape Cod ... if you are here in the summer you can combine it w/ a trip to Provincetown via take the ferry and grab a cab to the vineyard in Truro. www.trurovineyardsofcapecod.com/index.htm
Wineries in the Boston area?Turns out we have an obscure state agency that actually has a good listing of area wineries:

I%26#39;ve heard really good things about Nashoba Valley, which is also a brewery and farm.
Further away (definitely not a cab ride...), there are some wine yards in Rhode Island as well. Could be combined with a stop in Newport.

Interesting list L4R .... thanks for digging it up.
Unfortunately for the orignal poster none are them are with in an ';easy cab ride'; of Boston. The one in Suffolk county (same county as Boston) does not sound like it%26#39;s open to the public but it might be worth a call
Great list L4R. My first thought had been Nashoba Valley but does not fit GoBucks.. parameters.
GoBucks we can offer you two breweries if that%26#39;s of any interest. www.samueladams.com and www.harpoonbrewery.com
The Boston Winery is located in the Port section of Neponset/Dorchester. This is within eye sight of the Venetzia Rest.
I am not sure how open it is to the public. I was there the other evening for a private function. Very nice and very good wine.
I have to say I%26#39;m amazed to learn that there%26#39;s a winery in Dorchester. Surely they don%26#39;t grow the grapes there?
And I also am wondering how many major cities in the country have wineries within a reasonable taxi ride of downtown. I would have guessed, in the words of Monty Python%26#39;s camelspotter character, ';nearly one.';
I did not see any grapes growing on the beach. I was impressed with the view of Boston and the up keep of the homes. Had not been down there in several years.
A winery is where you make wine. A vineyard is where you grow grapes. They often go hand-in-hand .... but not always ;)
According info on the website posted above, website , the place in Dorchester uses ';west coast'; grapes.
Turtle Creek is in Lincoln and they grow their own grapes. Its a beautiful place. Not sure if they are open to the public but you could call?
