How far is this beach from Dennisport? We always vacation in Dennisport but hate the beaches there. The sound is so dirty and the water is brown, yuk! I%26#39;d like to give the Cape the benefit of the doubt and see a nice beach. From what I%26#39;m reading Old Silver Beach is the closest I%26#39;ll get to the Caribbean here in New England.
How would we get there??
Any other beaches in the Cape that can compare to the clear sea green waters of the Caribbean?
Old Silver Beach Falmouth???
I am familiar with the beaches of the Hieghts in Falmouth and do not understand using the Caribbean but here is a link to a map just enlarge it and find a street close by and then map it out in google or mapquest.

Old Silver Beach Falmouth???
Karenbaco,
Last summer my friends were staying at the Seacrest Resort in Falmouth and they invited me down for a few days while they were there. It was, without a doubt just beautiful! The Seacrests beach is right on Old Silver and it%26#39;s got the white white thin, clean, pretty sand. Their beach was immaculate. The resort puts out white chairs %26amp; the umbrella%26#39;s for their guests. We were on that beach day in and day out. It was awesome. If you can get to Old Silver Beach when you check out Falmouth? GO there. It%26#39;s definitely nicer than the other side of the Cape and there%26#39;s NO doubt in my mind about it either after staying there. I%26#39;m really seriously thinking of booking it %26amp; staying there again this summer for a nice long weekend, it%26#39;s worth every dime too we thought. OH the Seacrest Resort is kind of getting old now, but you can%26#39;t beat their meal plan and they cater to you while you%26#39;re staying there. The rooms were decent too, I mean how long are you in them any way, you know what I mean!
Here%26#39;s their site to see it:

There%26#39;s a part of Old Silver Beach that%26#39;s open to the public too so if you travel over to Falmouth from the Dennisport area? GO there. It%26#39;s definitely a pretty nice beach! I myself really like this part of the Cape a lot, some people don%26#39;t, they prefer the lower Cape, which of course is pretty nice too, but there%26#39;s just something about Old Silver %26amp; now I know why because I saw it for myself! Once you get more familiar with the Falmouth area, you%26#39;ll like it a lot too I bet! We also checked out the ';Mashpee Commons'; while we were there and it%26#39;s GREAT! Tons of neat shops there now more than ever, I was there about 10 years ago and it%26#39;s MUCH better there now then ever before. So try to hit the place if you can, it%26#39;s wonderful.
Good luck!
When you click on the Seacrest Resort site? Look for Old Silver Beach and click that on next. You%26#39;ll see a beautiful picture of Old Silver Beach on it, well it definitely looks just like that picture....
You have piqued my interest and curiosity about the sand. Maybe that is why they call it ';silver'; beach??
I will have to check out this beach over the summer. I frequently visit Falmouth as we have friends with summer homes in the Heights but never ventured over to Old Silver (even though we have some relatives there too! LOL)
We are always learning something here - thanks for all of the contributors
Yes, Old Silver Beach is lovely. As a matter of fact, it is down the street from my house and I walk by it everyday. Let me give you a few tips...The best way to get there from Dennisport is to drive back to the Sagamore Bridge but take the right just before you go over and follow the canal to the Bourne Bridge. Head towards Falmouth and take that road to the next rotary (about 3 miles) continue to Falmouth and take the first exit(Route 151) Now just follow the signs for the Sea Crest Resort! It will take you about 45 minutes to get there on a weekday, more if you have the weekend traffic jam at the bridge(as you know).
When you get to the beach go to the second parking lot and pay the exorbitant fee($15 last time I looked) to park for the day. There are two snack bars for your convenience and showers to rinse off.
The beach sand is soft and white and it is not rocky at all. Unlike the bay side beaches it is warm and the tides do not effect your enjoyment. You can walk out 100-200 feet before you feet can%26#39;t touch the ground anymore so it is great for kids and for adult swimming. Life guards are always around. Seldom is there any problems with currents and there are no undertows.
For a treat you can walk over to the Seacrest and sit at the bar for a Pina Colada, but the beach is for guests only.
Have fun and be sure to check out Falmouth%26#39;s Main Street boutiques and restaurants while you are there!
Are there any other hotels in the Old Silver Beach area? Sea Crest got some very SCARY reviews from tripadvisor. I think i%26#39;ll pass on that place!!! I%26#39;d still like to enjoy the beach though.
Have you ventured North in Dennis to go to the bay side beaches....the water is incredibly clean especially at low tide when you can walk out on the tidal flats.
Coast Guard Beach, a Cape Cod National Seashore beach located in Eastham, is often awarded ';Top 10 in USA'; by various sources (Wall Street Journal, Yankee Magazine etc). With broad sandy beach, waves for surfing and natural, pristine surroundings, it is my favorite. The water is sparkling clean but cold so it might not be what you are looking for. The sand is powder, white and beautiful.

The Seacrest isn%26#39;t bad if you know what you are getting i.e. a beautiful private beach( which is so much nicer then the public overcrowded beach to enjoy) with hotel provided loungers and waitstaff to refill your beverages, ocean views and a clean and bright dining room (average to good food) and lounge/bar with dancing and music at night. The kids will love the pools(inside and out) and like I said before, you can sip on a Pina Colada from the beach bar. The rooms are dated, (walking on carpet with sandy feet will do that) but you%26#39;re not going to spending much time in there anyway.
There are a few hotels on the Vineyard side of Falmouth that have beaches as well, though not as silky sandy as Old Silver. They are a 15 minute drive away from Old Silver and you would still have to pay for parking.
The only place I can think of that is close to Old Silver would be the the very nice and friendly Chappaqoit Inn, a B%26amp;B. -about 3-5 minutes by car but not walking distance to Old Silver.
I just read the previous post and agree with it 100%. I also read a lot of the reviews on Trip Advisor regarding the Seacrest Resort. I remember I read them last summer too before I drove down there not knowing what to expect and when I got there and spent a few days, I definitely didn%26#39;t feel the same way as the reviewers here, of course I don%26#39;t have kids and I%26#39;m not as fussy believe it or not! Granted, there were tons of people with their kids all around the pool area and I mean a ton of people, it was wild that first day we got there, they definitely didn%26#39;t look like happy campers either, trust me, some of them looked pretty unhappy being there that way! Whatever. We definitely enjoyed the beach immensely because of being directly on it with that cool cabana for drinks, the cafe %26amp; the outdoor and indoor pool a few steps away, it was just wonderful. There were plenty of lifeguards there and plenty of beach services. The Management at this resort evidently has changed and my friends saw subtle positive changes (this was their 5th year that they were going here). I feel that you could do much worse on the Cape and pay even more money. I wouldn%26#39;t suggest any one else try the Seacrest here though because of the trip reports written up about them. Besides, my friends and I have decided that we want the Seacrest Resort all to ourselves any way when we book it again, there%26#39;s a method to our madness, may be it won%26#39;t be as crowded next summer! Oh by the way, the sunsets on that Old Silver beach are JUST incredible....
