Great news! We sold our Pennsylvania house within a week of it%26#39;s being on the market and we%26#39;re now free to purchase that dream home on the Cape. Unfortunately, we have yet to find that house and time is running out. Closing date on the PA property, along with our NYC apartment, is 5/31. As it stands now, and this could change within the second, we%26#39;ll rent a house in Brewster for the month of June and try to find something during that period of time. This house is not available for July and August so we would like to find a dog friendly rental home for at least another couple of months in case we need it. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time! Buck
Need more advice regarding the Cape....
Nothing specific. I have rented in other areas through VRBO.com (vacation rental by owner), A1vacations.com, and homeaway.com.
The local newspaper is the Cape Cod Times, (capecodonline.com), also CapeCod.com has some classifieds.
You probably know that summer rental rates are definitely the high-season. For some seasonal rentals the monthly-winter rate is the same as the weekly-summer rate. If you need a roof over your head and a base to go house-hunting without breakig the bank, the Wareham/Carver/Rochester (off-Cape) area might be significantly cheaper and have more availability. It%26#39;s not Brewster, but if you%26#39;re in a pinch....
Good Luck,
Harry

I have a few ideas but need to ask a few questions before I get back to you. I will send your post to some friends who may be able to help you out. Can they send you a private post through this site or hve you blocked that option?
I don%26#39;t know what your looking for in a home but I can tell you the same thing happened to us. We sold our Boston condo and had a 1 month rental at the beach. I found a Buyer broker that was willing to email me every single listing in my criteria and every new listing that came up.
We%26#39;d drive by them and if we liked what we saw we%26#39;d call our buyer broker and see it asap. We also called and toured many ';for sale by owners';.
We did find our dream house and in that months time, but we approached it like a job!
Not to mention there are more homes for sale now with this economy and you have a lot of bargaining power too. In my neighborhood, which is small and on a lake, it was a rare year that even 1 home was for sale. Today there are 5.
Good luck!
Susan
Hi pixiesh! Glad you%26#39;re on Cape and enjoying the experience!
I%26#39;m not sure why this post %26#39;popped up%26#39; again; (it was bumped to the top even before you replied) but the original post was from 2007.
FYI, This post is over 2 years old. Hopefully buckmeister64 has found his Cape Cod home.
