Boston Waterfront?

I wonder if any Bostonians can help me.I%26#39;m visiting in June and will stay at either the Westin Boston Waterfront or The Seaport Hotel.

They seem to be in the same area and while I can find tons of information on the hotels I can%26#39;t seem to find out about the surrounding area(s). Although this is probably because I am unsure of the exact area they are in.

Thanks in advance.

P.S

I%26#39;m happy to give any advice regarding London if anybody needs it.

Boston Waterfront?

Both of these hotels are in the up and coming South Boston waterfront area next to the Boston Convention Center. The MBTA (Boston transit system) serves the area via the Silver Line. This is one of Boston%26#39;s fastest developing areas and is still a work in progress. There are several restaurants in the immediate area and access to areas such as Fanieul Hall and Downtown Boston are walkable in good weather if you don%26#39;t mind a stroll. The Silver Line will connect you Boston%26#39;s South Station and the Theatre District area.

Boston Waterfront?

Hi,

While both are nice hotels, the surrounding area is still ';up and coming';. There%26#39;s a lot of construction going on in the area, with the massive Fan Pier Project leading the way. There%26#39;s not much to see or do in the area at this time. I can see it becoming a desirable location 5-10 years from now, but not at this time. There is a relatively new Convention Center there, so both of those hotels spend much of their marketing reaching out to convention goers. Getting to the areas of Boston that visitors want to see is somewhat inconvienent from the Seaport. You can take the Silver Line Bus to South Station and hop on the subway there, you can take a taxi or you can walk. The walk is a long one, but using the Harborwalk would be the way to go. The Seaport/South Boston Waterfront is not recommended by Boston TA folks, unless you are attending a convention there. It%26#39;s not the end of the world by any means, but not nearly as desirable as other areas of Boston.

Between the two hotels I would go with The Seaport.

It is owned by Fidelity and the rennovations never stop.

In the area there are several nice places to eat. Next door is Sebastians and has awesome breakfast sandwiches and coffee. Lunch is great as well and inexpensive.

Yankee lobster is near and one of the better places for chowder. Mortons has a location next door and inexpensive apetizers.

There is Dunkin Donuts too.

The Westin is only a five minute walk. If you stay here you will be fine and the view of harbor is very nice.

June is a perfect time to stay in this location. The walk to Quincy Market is 15 minutes tops and lots along the way to take your mind off the trek.

I think up and coming was fitting a year ago. I think it is a destination and you will like it very much.

Thanks guys that%26#39;s really helpful.Sounds like a lot of waterfront areas around the world that are being re-generated.

I quite like using public transport so I wouldn%26#39;t mind not being directly in the centre.

One last question

Are there bars in this area? Sometimes you%26#39;re stuck if you don%26#39;t like the hotel bar. I don%26#39;t need lively ones, just regular bars will do.

Mortons has a great bar.

Salvatores is right there and has a big bar with lots of flat screens. The pizza is very good and also has a take out section.

Legal%26#39;s Test Kitchen has a bar.

If you want to eat outside, go for Salvatores over Legals....less cars going by.

The Seaport Bar is a little stuffy.
