We are arriving June 19th in Manchester NH and will drive to
Concord for the night. We plan to take route 4 to Northwood
area. We average 100miles or less/day. Route 1 looks good both
North to Bath Maine area and South around Ipswich and Essex to Rockport.
Back up across Southern NH and Vermont up Route 7. We
are hoping to find concentrations of Antique shops.
We like the big ones with multiple dealers. We found a few
flea markets on Sun the 24th one in Rowley and one in Hollis.
Like to stay in B%26amp;B%26#39;s.
Would love suggestions on areas to concentrate and also to
avoid.
10 days of Antiquing in New England
I know there%26#39;s a lot of antique shops all up through Northwood, NH, because it%26#39;s called ';Antique Alley';
For more to see, here%26#39;s some of the ones that I love that are in the seacoast region of the state. Our favorite one is the Lee Circle Antiques %26amp; Collectibles. It%26#39;s located at 93 Calef Hwy., in Lee, NH., you have to go there to see what I mean, it%26#39;s got some fascinating antiques and collectibles.
The other one we absolutely love in this region is called ';A Well Kept Secret';, it%26#39;s on the corner of Rte 125 %26amp; Newton Junction Rd. in Kingston, NH.
H.G. Webber Antiques is located at 495 Lafayette Rd. Rte. 1 in Hampton and they have pretty amazing antiques. I couldn%26#39;t believe it one afternoon when we were there. You actually can%26#39;t believe how big this place is from the outside when you see it.
If you can do it, try to get to ';The Collector%26#39;s Eye'; it%26#39;s located at 132 Portsmouth Ave. in Stratham, NH., it%26#39;s pretty neat.
Rowley, Gloucester, Essex %26amp; Ipswich have awesome antique shops of course too. There%26#39;s one called the White Elephant, that I could spend days in! It%26#39;s pretty near the Village Restaurant in Essex.

Tons of antique shops along the coast of Maine that I know you%26#39;re going to love. In York, there%26#39;s a Home %26amp; Garden shop that we love, it%26#39;s called Fiona%26#39;s Porch. Go to their site to see what I mean about it, it%26#39;s one of the best shops in York, Maine for different, unique items, old and new:

You%26#39;re going to be a very busy individual because there%26#39;s many many wonderful antique shops all over New England!
Have a great time!
10 days of Antiquing in New England
Thank you so much!! This is our 5th year doing this, just sisters.
We have fun and meet many nice people. If you have any other
great ideas let us know!
Milford NH also has an ';Antique Alley'; on Route 101. There is also a nice place in Keene at Colony Mill.
If you are in the Squam Lake area of New Hampshire check out the Squam Lake Inn....owned by former Californians!
If you have the time or perhaps on another trip take a drive along Rt 6A in Cape Cod and see all the Antique/Home shops(quite a few B%26amp;B%26#39;s too)...my favorite.
What do you think about Route 7A Vermont and North Western Massachusetts? We may head down to Cape Cod
This is so helpful. Last year we spent 10days in VA and NC
searching. I searched the net but many had closed down. We
were really disappointed.Thanks Again!!!
We like nature walks, staying on working farms, picking berries,
reinactments.
Sorry I don%26#39;t know much about Western MASS, but since you mentioned Rowely, I%26#39;ve %26#39;prowled%26#39; that area and purchased furniture and bric-a-brac for years.
I highly recommend ';Main St'; Rowley for lots of multi-dealer shops as well as the Todd Farm outdoor flea market where sometimes you%26#39;ll find treasures and sometimes you%26#39;ll find junk. I%26#39;m not sure if the Todd Farm outdoors part is open 7 days/ week at this time of year or not.
Check out Google Maps for ';Antiques'; in ';Rowley MA';. I%26#39;m familiar with many of these places on Rte 1A and know they were opened last fall. (I tried to post a link to the search result but it%26#39;s too long ....)
From there, you might want to head along Rte 133 south to Essex which will bring you to MANY more shops';. Check out google maps and seach on %26#39;antiques%26#39; in ';Essex Ma'; for lots of listings. Some of which I passed just yesterday and KNOW they are opened. You%26#39;ll find the White Elephant Shop mentioned above: http://www.whiteelephantshop.com/ Also, there%26#39;s the ';White Elephant Outlet'; which can be fun if you like to scavenge, but basically it%26#39;s stuff that%26#39;s not ';good enough'; for the main shop --- but I won%26#39;t forget that %26#39;good enough%26#39; is in the eye of the beholder ;)
And as long as you are travelling Rte 133 stop at J.T. Farnham%26#39;s for outrageously good Fried Clams with a pretty view. It%26#39;s strictly counter service and paper plates ... you can eat either outdoors at picnic tables or in their dining room. For more leisurely, indoor dining w/ waitstaff service, you can%26#39;t beat The Village Restaurant mentioned above for everything from seafood to steak to pasta.
From 133, you cancontinue South to pick up Rte 128 which is a %26#39; highway%26#39; (divided road, 2 lanes in each direction, posted speed limit 55 or 60) and it will permit you to efficiently reach Rte 1, Rte 95, Rte 93 or the Mass Pike so you can continue on to your next destination.
Since this area is a %26#39;day trip%26#39; for me, I%26#39;m not familiar w/ lodging in the area, but Ipswich and Essex have long been a tourist area, so perhaps others may have been good suggesions.
Happy Treasure Hunting!!!
Forgot to mention ... the White Elephant is one of my favorite places for %26#39;treasure hunting%26#39;. For furniture, I LOVE Salt Marsh Antiques ... and I%26#39;ve been happy w/ furniture purchases from the folks on the far right in the yellow barn Todd Farms.
Aside from those mentioned Antique stores and Antique Alley a few other very good antique stores are J. Covington in downtown Portsmouth, Jorgensen%26#39;s and The Farm in Wells Maine. All three locations feature fine English Antiques, but J. Covington also carries French pieces. http://jcovingtondesigns.blogspot.com/
Enjoy the hunt!!!
It sounds like a great trip and it looks like you have done your homework. I was just in Essex this past week and stopped at a few stores. (Did not buy, nice to look at but the prices were a bit too high).Don%26#39;t forget to enjoy some fried clams while traveling in Essex or Ipswich. Sister vacations are so much fun!
Enjoy!
