Hi Everyone
I%26#39;m thinking of travelling to Boston for a few days on my upcoming USA/Canada trip.
I would be travelling to Boston from New York and then onto Niagara Falls.
I wouldn%26#39;t be hiring a car - so I would need a convenient hotel or hostel. What areas do you think I should be looking at? Is the Back Bay centrally located in terms of walking to attractions?
I would definitely what to see a theatre show as well.
Any ideas/plans would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks so much in advance
Amy
Boston for the weekend - July
When you say walking attractions, what are you referring to? That would help us focus the best area of town for you. However, bear in mind that Boston is very compact and hotels anywhere in Downtown, Back Bay or the Waterfront are not too far from any of the main tourist areas.

I haven%26#39;t really even gotten that far as to look into the attractions in Boston.
What would you recommend?
I just don%26#39;t want to be staying in the middle of no where and having to catch lots of public transport - I%26#39;d prefer to walk.
Back Bay is not the %26#39;middle of nowwhere%26#39;, the areas conveniently located to tourist attractions are Back Bay, Fanieul Hall/Quincy Market, downtown, Boston Common, Beacon Hill, Financial District (but this is quiet on weekends).
Not sure about hostels ... I hope others will chime in.
Hi, Amy
While I would love to have you come see Boston, I just don%26#39;t know if it%26#39;s the best plan. The reason why I say that is because of the travel. You are basically backtracking to come here. Getting to Niagara Falls is a pain in the butt from Boston. You have to take Greyhound Bus to Syracuse, New York and transfer to another bus to complete the journey. It will cost you $150 to get to Niagara from Boston and takes about 13 hours. Traveling from New York City to Niagara is much easier. There are many bus companies to choose from that offer direct service for half the cost and the travel time is 9 hours. Now, if you are aware of that and still wish to come here, then we would love to have you. There is a decent hostel to stay at in Boston, which is in a good location for getting around the city. I%26#39;ll leave you the link. If the travel doesn%26#39;t bother you and you are still thinking of coming, then I would be more than happy to help you plan your visit.

I wouldn%26#39;t bother seeing a theater show in Boston, especially if you%26#39;re going to New York. See a show in New York.
However, I *highly* recommend seeing if there is a concert by the Boston Symphony or Boston Pops while you%26#39;re in town. They are a world-class orchestra and Symphony Hall is unlike any other.
