Is the location of the boats going to Logan airport to Long Wharf near the American Airlines terminal? Would it be better to just take a cab? Thanks. Glenn
Boat from Logan Airport to Long Wharf
The ferry sounds awesome ... but I have to admit I%26#39;ve never taken it.
First, in terms of location, it%26#39;s not walking distance from any terminal. Massport/MBTA provides a courtesy shuttle from all terminals to the dock. At least it%26#39;s free and probably convenient.
Second, in terms of trade-offs to taking a cab, it depends on where you%26#39;re going in the city:
If your final destination is within a short striking distance from Long Wharf, it seems like a fun and adventurous (perhaps cheaper!?) trip into the city. Certainly more pleasant than racing through underwater tunnels, no?
If you%26#39;re headed elsewhere in the city, I assume you%26#39;d need a taxi anyway. Taxis to most parts of the city are cheap enough that, unless you want the adventure, you may save a bit of logistical complexity by just getting in a cab at the airport.
BTW, cabs to South End/Back Bay part of Boston are probably $20-ish bucks (maybe $25 ... it%26#39;s been two years since I moved to the %26#39;burbs). Hope that gives you a ballpark of what to expect.
Good luck and have a great visit to Boston!
