Advice on Turo lodgings and other Turo info!

We always stay in Harwhich but DH wants to stay in Turo. This year we will have our 1 yr old with us and our friends and their 5 month old will be with us. For this reason a beach location would be great so we won%26#39;t have to carry baby crap too far! DH wants to be in Turo to be near P Town so that is why we are picking Turo. I am not familiar with the town setting of Turo. Is it busy? Are there restaurants and shops in a town center? If you have ANY suggestions for us or insider info. it would be so helpful. We want to stay for the week of Aug 17th and hope we can find something for $2K or under. Thanks so much!!!

I wish I could live on the Cape. I just love it and can%26#39;t wait to go back again!

There is really no town centre in Truro. Plenty of restaurants along that stretch of Rte 6 and of course in Provincetown. Do you want to rent a house or cottage or stay in a motel/hotel/inn? Take a look at the column to the left of this page for a list of accommodations etc. You might also want to take a look at www.weneedavacation.com or www.cyberrentals.com to get an idea of what is available for rent. Also check realtors in the area. With children that young you may only be staying on the beach for short periods so bear that in mind when choosing a place to stay.

Hi Gina, Mainstreetman had a couple of suggestions in Truro last season that looked really nice. Perhaps you should send him a Private Message and see if he can post again OR you can look back over his posts. You are in luck because there are a bunch of places located directly ON the beach on Cape Cod Bay. I bet you%26#39;ve seen them right? Now it%26#39;s just a matter of which one to select. You%26#39;ll have a wonderful time with the kids and your friends this summer...oh and also DH of course...lol.

I think it%26#39;s a great idea to contact mainstreetman re: your summer rental. He%26#39;s a reliable source of information.

In addition, please %26#39;Google%26#39; ';Truro Realtors'; for a complete list of dependable Realtors (a Much better idea than the virtual rental sites, ******* In My Opinion******)

Please let us know what you find...perhaps $2,000.00 is a bit optimistic for a weekly waterfront rental but I%26#39;m very interested to see what you find.

You might also check out www.flipkey.com Trip Advisor%26#39;s newly acquired company that organizes vacation rentals by destination.

Truro does not have a real town center; Wellfleet, however, does, and its close proximity to Truro and Ptown makes it another good option.

With such young kids I’d recommend the Outer Capes Kettle Ponds over the beach (especially ocean beaches as they are very cold and very wild out there). I think you’ll find this article interesting:

As others have said there is no town center in Truro – it’s the most remote area of the Cape. Your nearest town centers are going to be Wellfleet and P-Town.

Don%26#39;t forget www.VRBO.com. There are some beautiful looking places available on that site for Truro as well.

Check out The Top Mast and The Crow%26#39;s Nest. Both on Rte 6a, on the Bayside ... motel rooms w/ kitchenettes ...

We%26#39;ve been staying on rte 6a since before we had kids. My kids did find there as toddlers. Like any other water ... watch%26#39;em like a hawk ... but the temps and occassional surf were never an issue.

A few times we%26#39;ve seen VERY rough surf and just stayed away from the water%26#39;s edge. It gets rough if there%26#39;s a storm nearby ... like when Katrina passed by ... clear and sunny and extremely rough surf, even on the bay side.

Happy planning!
