Found a Different Hotel-Please Give Input

I found the Doubletree Club Hotel Boston-Bayside for

about 20.00 more a night. This would be a better choice right? It is not far from everything we want to do and they will pick us up by the shuttle at the South Station. Remember I had a hotel in Needham.

Please tell me if this is more practical and better.

If this is better all I now have to plan is a way to get from TF Green to the South Station.

Thanks for helping me with my worries.

I thought you had the hotel in Medford!!?? And we already told you about the bus from TF Green to South Station.

Yes, and what happened to Hotwire? Did you try that for the 4 star in Quincy Market area?

P.S. I wonder if that is the new Fairmont, and not the Intercontinental. Either way, much better option than Bayside!!

The InterContinental is a 4.5 star on Hotwire.

The Fairmont Battery Wharf has not yet been reported to betterbidding.com, so my money is still on the property with the amenities Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, High-speed Internet Access, Spa Services being the InterContinental, with a lower possibility of it being the Langham.

Whoops, wish we could edit...

I meant to say that the zone I am referring to is, as Rantipole mentioned above, is the Quincy Market/Financial District.

If I am remembering correctly, the Hyatt Place in Medford was about $1100 for 8 night. If the DoubleTree you are referring is an extra $20/night, that equates to an additional $160, or $1260 total.

For $24 more, you can get the InterContinental on Hotwire. Now I%26#39;m not trying to pressure you to extend your budget or spend beyond your means...just merely giving you options. Only you know what you are willing to spend on your vacation.

OK ... in my humble opinion, the Doubletree Club Hotel Boston-Bayside is no better than the Hyatt Medford. It%26#39;s out near the Bayside Expo center (not the NEW expo center) ... in fact one of the hightlights on their website is ';walk to the JFK Library';. The closest subway station is not an easy walk and will probably be pretty quiet after dark.

In fact, UMASS Boston (right near to the Doubletree) runs shuttle buses to the T station (at least they did when my dh went there part-time nights.

Pickles ... I haven%26#39;t used priceline before. Are any of their deals cancellable ... I think that might be kc%26#39;s concern.

kc ... there%26#39;s something to be said for paying for your hotel upfront. Sure, they%26#39;re HOLDING your money ... but as one who never saves as much as I think I will, it feels pretty good. It%26#39;s paid for it%26#39;s done, no more worries. My family is going away this weekend and we%26#39;ve got our transportation, hotel, and theatre tickets all paid for ... leaving us very little else to worry about ... it feels quite good.

Forgot: That is funny they advertise walking to the JFK.

I am always ready to walk but I would pass on this one. I have driven the distance and it has to be 2 miles.

This hotel is bit run down as well.

Hey FMP,

No, the Priceline name your own price and Hotwire opaque bookings are nonrefundable/noncancelable and they do require payment upfront. The ones that I know of that don%26#39;t are Quikbook.com and hotels.com, but these are not deep discount websites. Certain ones on the other websites like Orbitz, expedia, travelocity, etc. are not, but I think most are. It%26#39;s all in the fine print. :)

Hey KC,

What you could do is check Hotwire 2 weeks, 1 week, a few days...whenever you feel like you can go ahead and prepay...and see if the deal is still there. Who knows, it may even go down in price. With these things you can never be sure. But, hotwire inventory is limited so it also may not be there that close to your trip.
