Budget hotel in Boston In September
Hi,
Less than $100/night in central Boston is extremely difficult. The only two places I know about which would be in that range, might require you to share a bath.
The Oasis Guest House is very nice and clean, but basic accommodations. They have a range of rooms and rates, but the cheapest are under $100, with shared bath:

There%26#39;s also the 463 Beacon St. guesthouse, which is basic but clean, and in an excellent location in the heart of the Back Bay:

Under $100 for a decent place will be really tough, even not outside the city. If you do find any place at this rate check it out thoroughly to make sure it is not a real dump or a ';welfare motel';.
i just went to hotwire.com and plugged in your dates. A 3* in Quincy Market for $79 and a 3.5* in Back Bay/Copley Square for $109 came up.
The published rates for the John Jeffries house are about as low as you might find for a good hotel in a nice location... but they book up quick.

I%26#39;d also suggest using one of the ';name your own price'; services, bid low, and see what you get. Look for the central parts of town, and you%26#39;ll find that most hotels are easily accessible to everything. Boston%26#39;s pretty small. I don%26#39;t know of anything that would be going on to keep rates high for those days. The parents of new students will have settled their kids, and been given the bum%26#39;s rush, and the ';leaf-peepers'; will start showing up a couple weeks after that...
Those ';leaf peepers'; start showing up in September, although we always end up saying they%26#39;re too early for Boston color. Soit gets pretty crowded then.
Thank you all so much !!! I麓ll see what I can get and we keep in touch. Thanks a lot endeed.
