Hi All,
My wife and considering 8 days in Boston during the last week in May - 23/5 to 31/5/09. We are keen to see the city but also a little of the countryside.
What would you recommend about how many days to spend to split our time between the two? Where would be the best place to see the countryside in view of our limited time? We are happy to hire a car.
Thanks so much for your advice.
Best wishes,
Stu.
8 days end of May - advice please!Stu,
Do you want to go to the Mountains, to the Lakes Region or to the coast?
3 hours North of North of Boston are the White Mountains, you can visit Franconia. If you go to Franconia, I would suggest visiting the Flume and The Basin. North Conway is another popular destination. Lake Winnipesaukee and Squam Lake are about 2 hour drive form Boston
Or Do you want to visit the coast, there are a lot of choices. North of Boston includes Rockport and Gloucester, which you can do as a day trip from Boston or a bit further North would be Ogunquit Maine. South of Boston includes Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha Vineyard, Plymouth or Newport, Rhode Island.
Also, not sure on what your interests are? Are you into American History, Do you want to see Museums, go to popular tourist attractions, eat at fine restaurants, hike trails, shop or just want to relax?
8 days end of May - advice please!Concord and Minuteman Park are very nice in the late spring/early summer. You could visit Salem and Marblehead north of Boston, but as always I highly recommend seeing if you can get tickets to a Boston Symphony/Boston Pops concert. That%26#39;s right around the end of the BSO season and the beginning of the Pops season, so it might be a little more challenging.
