I have a wedding coming up in Warwick, RI. What could I expect the drive to be like from BOS on a Friday morning around 9 a.m.? I can fly N/S to Boston for less money than Providence, where I%26#39;d have to make a connection. Just wondered which would be the better choice.
BOS to Warwick?
Do you need a car in Warwick? Would you prefer NOT to drive between Boston and Warwick?
We recently learned here on TA that Peter Pan is now running a bus between Boston (Logan Airport) and TF Green Airport in Warwick. Check out http://www.peterpan.com Use ';TF Green'; as your destination.
If it%26#39;s more convenient for you to rent a car in Boston .. the trip shouldn%26#39;t be too bad. I live near Logan and have gone from my house to the parking lot at TF Green in about 80 minutes, leaving Boston at 6:30 (and missing rush hour here) but hitting a bit of it around Providence.
At 9am, Boston rush hour will be winding down and Providence%26#39;s should be over by the time you get there.
I find it interesting that it%26#39;s cheaper for you to fly to Logan because Providence and Manchester (NH) are often touted as the less expensive alternatives to Logan. For us, it has only worked out to be cheaper twice and both times the %26#39;savings%26#39; only made sense because we were flying as a family of 4 ...
Happy planning!
BOS to Warwick?
Hi, I%26#39;d go with flying into Warwick (that is where the Providence airport is actually located)- here%26#39;s my reasoning. If the wedding is right there, even if you have to change planes, you%26#39;re still probably going to save money on car rental fees, gas, tolls, etc coming down from Logan. From Boston it is a 70 mile trip - no traffic, an hour and fifteen minutes. Will you be on the road at 9 or landing, picking up the car and then going? It could make a big difference. If you are on the road at 9, traffic will be pretty heavy that time of day getting out of Logan and coming down the Expressway to 95 South - it may ease up a bit on 95, but then get congested again as you near Providence. With traffic, it could take you an hour + 45 minutes or more. Then, you have to do it all again after the wedding. Is the difference in price huge? You%26#39;ll have to weigh it all out.
I think the flight to Providence would be the best after reading your responses. It would add an hour and a half at least to my flight time, but that would be a wash with the drive from BOS. Plus, I may be able to have someone from the wedding party pick me up at the Providence airport. I didn%26#39;t realize it was so close to Warwick. The price is going to be more, but if I don%26#39;t have to get the rental car, that will help. Thanks for your responses. It was very helpful.
